Hattie Tucker Preston was Hilda’s Grandmother (her dad’s mom).
Hattie was born in Nebraska in 1856; and at the age of 23 she came west with with her husband, Frank M. Preston, her infant daughter Bessie, and her husband’s parents Monroe and Sarah Preston.
Together, she and Frank had six children, Bessie (1879-1956), Edward (1881-1957), Charles (Hilda’s dad, 1883-1936), Edith (1885-1931), William (1887-1972), and Blanche (1903-????).
Hattie died in 1906 at the age of 49 and she is buried in Prairie City, with a beautiful headstone.
Additionally, her Find a Grave listing (https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/33693155/hattie-w.-preston) notes that her parents were Leroy Tucker and Rhoda Winegar Tucker, and that she may have had three children born in 1893 and 1894 that died in infancy. (I add this with the caveat that there is some information in her listing that I don’t believe is true, so it casts doubts on this as well, until I can verify it elsewhere.)
